OGRA Announces Minor Reduction in LPG Prices Across Pakistan

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has recently issued an official notification announcing a modest decrease in the prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) throughout Pakistan. This adjustment reflects a reduction of Rs0.21 per kilogram, bringing the updated rate to Rs225.84 per kg. As a result, the cost of an 11.8-kilogram domestic LPG cylinder has been lowered by Rs2.52, setting the new price at Rs2,664.88.

This price revision will be implemented uniformly across the country, adhering to the latest pricing mechanism established by OGRA. The regulatory body periodically reviews LPG prices to ensure they align with current market conditions, taking into account factors such as international rates, currency fluctuations, and supply-demand dynamics. Such adjustments are crucial for maintaining a balance between consumer affordability and industry sustainability.

LPG remains a vital energy source in Pakistan, especially in regions where natural gas infrastructure is either limited or unavailable. It is extensively used for domestic cooking as well as commercial purposes, making price stability and transparency essential for millions of households and businesses nationwide. The slight reduction in LPG prices is expected to provide some relief to consumers who have been facing fluctuating energy costs in recent months.

It is important to recall that earlier this year, on January 31, 2026, OGRA had implemented a significant increase in LPG prices, raising the rate by Rs6.37 per kilogram. This hike had pushed the price of LPG to Rs226.6 per kg and resulted in an increase of Rs75.21 for the 11.8-kg domestic cylinder, which was then priced at Rs2,667.40. The recent downward adjustment marks a reversal of that trend, albeit a modest one, reflecting the regulator’s ongoing efforts to respond to changing market conditions.

Consumers and industry stakeholders alike will be closely monitoring future price movements as OGRA continues to manage the delicate balance between international fuel price volatility and domestic energy needs. Meanwhile, the government and regulatory authorities remain committed to ensuring that essential commodities like LPG remain accessible and affordable for the general public, while also supporting the energy sector’s operational viability.
