On Wednesday morning, Pakistan’s air defence system intercepted and shot down eight drones that allegedly crossed into its airspace from Afghanistan. The country’s armed forces and Pakistan Air Force successfully neutralized all eight unmanned aerial vehicles after they entered Pakistani territory.
Four of these drones were downed near the Torkham border area, while the remaining four were intercepted in the mountainous regions close to the border adjoining Kohat. This incident has been cited as further evidence of direct support and backing of militants by the Afghan Taliban regime.
Officials emphasized that the armed forces and Pakistan Air Force acted with professionalism to prevent what was perceived as an attempt to target public locations within Pakistan. This event follows a recent operation in which Pakistani forces destroyed several Afghan Taliban positions and hideouts in the Kurram sector, a response to provocative firing from across the border.
Security officials reiterated that Pakistan’s armed forces remain fully prepared to safeguard the nation and its citizens against any threats. This latest development highlights the ongoing tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and the vigilance of Pakistan’s defence apparatus.
