The Pakistan Stock Exchange’s benchmark KSE-100 Index increased by 248 points on Tuesday, closing at 171,402. This followed the previous session’s gain of 268.58 points, where the index had ended at 171,153.16.
During Tuesday’s trading, robust buying activity was noted across several major sectors. Automobile assemblers, cement manufacturers, commercial banks, oil and gas exploration firms, as well as power generation and refinery companies, all contributed to the upward momentum of the index.
Notably, heavyweight stocks such as Attock Refinery (ARL), Hub Power Company (HUBCO), Mari Petroleum (MARI), Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC), Pakistan Oilfields (POL), Habib Bank (HBL), Meezan Bank (MEBL), MCB Bank, and National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) traded positively throughout the session.
In early trading, the KSE-100 had surged over 400 points, reaching 171,562.37 at 10:10 a.m., marking an increase of 409.21 points or 0.24 percent from the previous close.
The optimistic market sentiment is partly attributed to easing international oil prices and indications of a possible de-escalation between the US and Iran. However, investors remain cautious due to ongoing regional geopolitical tensions that continue to influence market dynamics.
