In a significant development in Peshawar, police apprehended a 19-year-old man accused of exhuming the bodies of girls from graves and desecrating them in the Sheikhan area. The arrest followed local residents catching the suspect in the act of digging up a grave and removing a girl’s body.
The suspect, identified as Salman, hails from Bara Qadeem and is an Afghan national. Superintendent of Police (SP) Saddar Division Fida Hussain detailed that Salman allegedly exhumed several graves, specifically targeting girls’ bodies, which he then took to nearby bushes for desecration.
Notably, the suspect had already disturbed four other graves before being caught. Residents intercepted him while he was digging up another girl’s grave and promptly handed him over to the authorities. SP Hussain, graves of boys were left untouched, indicating a deliberate pattern in the suspect’s actions.
Salman has completed intermediate-level education. Police are thoroughly investigating the case and assured that all legal measures will be taken against the accused. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities examine every aspect of the incident.
