Passport delivery counters throughout Pakistan will remain open every Saturday for the next two months, enabling citizens to collect their ready passports more conveniently. The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports announced that these counters will operate from 8am to 4pm on Saturdays, supplementing the usual weekday hours.
This arrangement allows applicants to pick up their passports on weekends in addition to regular working days, providing greater flexibility. However, the department cautioned that passports left uncollected for over six months will be disposed of in line with government regulations.
In a significant development, this move follows the launch of a doorstep passport delivery service by the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports. This service permits applicants to receive their passports directly at their registered addresses, eliminating the need to visit collection centers. The initiative was introduced under the guidance of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi as part of efforts to enhance public convenience and streamline the passport issuance process.
Earlier, Naqvi announced that all passport offices across Pakistan would implement cashless payment systems. He highlighted that applicants would no longer have to endure long queues or wait extended periods to complete payments. The interior minister emphasized that these steps aim to make public services faster, more transparent, and more user-friendly. He also expressed optimism about achieving further milestones in improving citizen services in the future.
