Edin Dzeko, the iconic Bosnian striker, has decided to retire from international football at the age of 40. Over his extensive career, Dzeko has become Bosnia and Herzegovina’s most-capped player, representing his country in 151 matches. His remarkable goal-scoring ability is highlighted by the 73 goals he netted, making him the nation’s all-time leading scorer. This milestone underscores his significant contribution to Bosnian football and his status as a national sports hero.

Dzeko’s international career spanned over a decade, during which he played a pivotal role in elevating Bosnia’s presence on the global football stage. His leadership and experience were instrumental in Bosnia’s qualification for major tournaments, including their first-ever FIFA World Cup appearance in 2014. His retirement marks the end of an era for the Bosnian national team, which will now look to rebuild and find new talent to fill the void left by their legendary striker.

In a significant development for Bosnian football, Dzeko’s departure from international duty will have a lasting impact on the team’s dynamics and strategy. His legacy extends beyond his goal tally, inspiring a new generation of players in the region. Meanwhile, Dzeko continues his club career, where his experience and skill remain valuable assets. His retirement from international football is a moment of reflection on a storied career that brought pride and recognition to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
