‘Koyal’ claimed victory in the “Commissioner Karachi Donkey Cart Race,” which featured over 50 competitors and was organized to celebrate the 79th Independence Day. The race commenced at Aga Khan Tower, proceeded through Native Jetty Bridge, MT Khan Road, and Club Road, before concluding at the Commissioner Karachi Office.
Prizes were awarded to the top three finishers, recognizing their achievements in the event. DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah, attending the race for the first time, remarked on the extensive preparations, noting that officials worked overnight to ensure the race routes were ready. He emphasized the importance of such events in attracting public interest and preserving cultural traditions.
Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi highlighted the administration’s dedicated efforts to make the race a success, acknowledging the crucial support provided by the police force. Meanwhile, Karachi Police Additional Inspector-General Azad Khan underscored the need to revive and promote donkey cart racing, which has seen a decline in recent years. Khan expressed his enthusiasm as a longtime spectator and called for measures to sustain this cultural sport.
