Operation Ghazab lil-Haq Advances as Afghan Taliban’s Online Propaganda Unraveled

The Pakistan Army’s ongoing Operation Ghazab lil-Haq has entered a critical phase, with Pakistani forces maintaining strong momentum against Taliban incursions. In response to a robust military counterattack following unprovoked aggression by the Afghan Taliban, the militant group has increasingly resorted to digital misinformation campaigns in an attempt to salvage their image. Their efforts, however, have backfired spectacularly on social media platforms, drawing international scrutiny and embarrassment.

In a recent episode, the Taliban circulated images purportedly showing the wreckage of a Pakistani fighter jet, claiming it as proof of their battlefield success. These visuals quickly gained traction across various online channels, fueling narratives that the militant group had inflicted significant damage on Pakistan’s air capabilities. Such claims were designed to bolster Taliban morale and sway public opinion both domestically and abroad.

Nevertheless, these assertions were thoroughly discredited when an investigation by the British broadcaster BBC revealed that the images being shared were not related to any current conflict. Instead, the footage was traced back to 2025 and depicted the remains of a training aircraft, completely unrelated to the ongoing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan. This revelation has severely undermined the Taliban’s credibility and exposed their propaganda as a deliberate attempt to distort facts.

Military analysts and regional experts have weighed in on the situation, emphasizing that the Taliban’s digital misinformation campaign is a strategic move to mask the heavy losses they have sustained on the ground. The misleading posts and recycled images serve as a smokescreen to divert attention from their deteriorating position in the conflict. Observers note that such tactics are common among insurgent groups facing setbacks, aiming to manipulate public perception and maintain an illusion of strength.

As Operation Ghazab lil-Haq continues to unfold, the Pakistan Army remains resolute in its mission to restore stability along the border areas and counter cross-border militancy. The exposure of the Taliban’s propaganda efforts highlights the broader information warfare dimension of the conflict, where controlling the narrative is as crucial as achieving tactical victories. This episode underscores the importance of verifying information in an era where digital platforms can be exploited to spread falsehoods rapidly.
