President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday sanctioned multiple summaries submitted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, including the convening of National Assembly and Senate sessions on August 17.
The President’s Secretariat announced that Zardari approved the awarding of military honours to 1,172 personnel from the armed forces and civil armed forces, recognizing their service.
In a significant development, the National Assembly session is set for 5 pm and the Senate session for 4 pm on August 17, following the President’s approval.
Additionally, Zardari authorized a special 100-day remission of sentences for prisoners who meet the eligibility criteria, coinciding with the upcoming Independence Day and Eid Miladun Nabi celebrations.
The remission will be granted only to those prisoners who fulfill the relevant conditions outlined for this purpose.
Moreover, the President approved the conferment of national honours to distinguished citizens from various civil sectors, acknowledging their contributions.
Earlier in the week, Zardari had also endorsed the appointment of 19 additional judges across five high courts and confirmed five others as permanent judges, strengthening the judiciary.
