Israel Rejects Trump’s 15-Point Gaza Plan, Netanyahu Insists on Hamas Disarmament

In a significant development, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dismissed the 15-point peace proposal put forward by former US President Donald Trump concerning the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu emphasized that Israel’s military forces will maintain their presence in Gaza until Hamas is completely disarmed, underscoring the government’s firm stance on security and counterterrorism. This rejection highlights the ongoing complexities in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, particularly regarding Gaza’s governance and militant activities.

Trump’s plan, which aimed to establish a framework for peace and stability in the region, included various measures intended to curb violence and promote coexistence. However, Netanyahu’s response reflects skepticism about the feasibility of implementing such proposals without first neutralizing Hamas, which Israel classifies as a terrorist organization. The insistence on disarmament signals that Israel prioritizes security guarantees over diplomatic initiatives that do not address militant threats directly.

Meanwhile, the situation in Gaza remains tense, with periodic escalations impacting civilians and regional stability. Netanyahu’s firm position may influence future negotiations and international diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a lasting ceasefire. The rejection of Trump’s plan also illustrates the challenges faced by external actors in mediating peace in a deeply entrenched conflict marked by mutual distrust and security concerns.
