Promoted Ipswich Town have secured the signing of Serbian midfielder Sasa Lukic from Premier League side Fulham. While the financial terms were not officially disclosed, the transfer fee is approximately £9 million ($12.14 million).
The 29-year-old brings a wealth of top-tier experience, having represented Serbia 62 times and appeared in nearly 100 Premier League matches with Fulham. Before his stint in England, Lukic played for Serie A club Torino and also spent time on loan at Spanish outfit Levante.
Reflecting on his move, Lukic expressed enthusiasm about joining Ipswich, recalling his previous experience playing at Portman Road in the Premier League. He described the atmosphere as one of the best he has encountered and is eager to contribute as a home player. Lukic characterized himself as a box-to-box midfielder committed to giving his all on the pitch and looks forward to integrating with the team.
This signing marks Ipswich’s eighth acquisition during the current transfer window as they bolster their squad for the challenges of the Premier League. The club aims to solidify their position in the top flight under the guidance of new manager Gary O’Neil, who took over in June following Kieran McKenna’s departure after five seasons at the helm.
