The Sindh School Education Department has introduced updated school hours for government-run educational institutions across the province. This adjustment affects all levels, including primary, elementary, secondary, and higher secondary schools. The department issued an official notification outlining the revised timings, which vary depending on whether schools operate in a single or double shift system and also differ between summer and winter seasons.
the new schedule, single-shift primary schools will run from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. until October 31, with a shortened day on Fridays ending at 1:00 p.m. Meanwhile, secondary and higher secondary schools in the first shift will start earlier, operating from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. during the same period. These timings are designed to optimize learning hours while considering seasonal daylight variations.
In a significant development, the schedule will shift starting November 1 and continue through March 31. During these months, single-shift primary schools will extend their day slightly, functioning from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The first shift for secondary and higher secondary schools will also adjust, running from 8:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. This change reflects the shorter daylight hours in winter and aims to maintain a consistent academic routine.
For schools operating on a double-shift basis, the second shift will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. from Monday to Thursday until October 31. Afterward, from November 1 to March 31, the second shift will begin earlier at 12:45 p.m. and conclude at 5:45 p.m. On Fridays, the second shift will run from 10:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. These adjustments ensure that students attending afternoon sessions receive adequate instructional time while accommodating seasonal changes.
