Pakistan Condemns Afghan Taliban for Supporting Terrorism and Destabilizing Region

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has formally accused the Afghan Taliban government of providing unwavering support to terrorist organizations, emphasizing that attacks launched from Afghan territory constitute a serious breach of international law and pose a significant threat to peace and stability in the region. This strong condemnation came during a press briefing held on Friday by Pakistan’s Information Minister, Attaullah Tarar.

During the conference, Tarar elaborated on Pakistan’s firm response to recent hostile actions originating from Afghanistan, underscoring that despite numerous warnings and diplomatic engagements, terrorist activities targeting Pakistani soil have persisted unabated. He stressed that Islamabad remains vigilant and prepared to counter any aggression that undermines its sovereignty and security.

Highlighting specific incidents, Tarar pointed to recent attacks in Islamabad’s Katcheri area and Taralai, both of which, he asserted, were orchestrated and executed by militants operating out of Afghan territory. him, the Afghan Taliban regime is not only providing sanctuary but also actively training these terrorist groups within Afghanistan, thereby exacerbating the security challenges faced by Pakistan.

Moving beyond security concerns, the minister also drew attention to the dire humanitarian conditions prevailing inside Afghanistan under Taliban rule. He painted a grim picture of widespread human rights abuses, noting that women and children are being systematically denied their basic rights. Educational opportunities for girls have been severely curtailed, vaccination programs for children have been disrupted, and incidents of kidnappings and harassment have become alarmingly frequent.

Tarar criticized the Taliban government for ruling through intimidation and coercion, accusing them of manipulating religious principles to serve their own political agendas rather than the interests of the Afghan people. He emphasized that the Taliban’s oppressive governance has stripped Afghan citizens of fundamental freedoms, further isolating the country on the international stage.

Reiterating Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to fostering peace and stability in the region, Tarar warned that continued militant activities emanating from Afghanistan would compel Islamabad to take decisive and robust measures to protect its national interests. The minister’s remarks reflect growing frustration within Pakistan over the ongoing security threats and humanitarian crises linked to the Taliban’s policies and actions.
