Pakistan Condemns Afghan Taliban for Supporting Terrorism and Destabilizing Region

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly condemned the Afghan Taliban regime for allegedly providing comprehensive support to terrorist organizations operating from Afghan territory. The government emphasized that these cross-border attacks not only breach international legal norms but also pose a serious threat to peace and stability across the region.

During a detailed press briefing, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar addressed the escalating security concerns stemming from Afghanistan. He pointed out that despite Pakistan’s repeated diplomatic efforts and stern warnings, terrorist activities targeting Pakistani soil continue unabated. The minister underscored Islamabad’s firm response to recent hostile actions originating from across the border.

Tarar specifically accused the Taliban government of harboring and training militants within Afghanistan, enabling them to launch attacks inside Pakistan. He referenced recent violent incidents, including assaults on the Islamabad Katcheri and Taralai areas, which were traced back to Afghan soil. These events, he noted, clearly illustrate the Taliban’s complicity in fostering terrorism rather than curbing it.

Beyond security issues, the minister drew attention to the dire humanitarian situation prevailing in Afghanistan under Taliban rule. He highlighted the systematic denial of basic rights to women and children, including severe restrictions on girls’ education and the suspension of essential vaccination programs for children. Furthermore, he lamented the widespread kidnappings and harassment that have become commonplace, painting a grim picture of life under the current regime.

Tarar criticized the Taliban for maintaining power through coercion and exploiting religious sentiments to serve their political agenda. He stressed that the Taliban’s oppressive governance deprives Afghan citizens of fundamental freedoms and repeatedly violates international laws. The minister’s remarks reflected deep concern over the regime’s disregard for human rights and regional peace.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to fostering stability and peace in the region, Tarar issued a stern warning that continued militant activities emanating from Afghanistan would compel Islamabad to take decisive and robust measures. The government remains vigilant and prepared to protect its sovereignty against any threats originating from its western neighbor.
