Israel Conducts Strikes in Southern Lebanon Following Evacuation Alert

The Israeli military carried out targeted airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Wednesday after issuing an evacuation warning to residents of the village of Mansouri. The operation was described as a response to alleged violations by Hezbollah in the area.

These strikes occurred just one day after the latest round of US-mediated negotiations between Israel and Lebanon took place in Rome, aiming to address ongoing border disputes.

The Lebanese health ministry reported that an Israeli strike on the southern town of Tibnin resulted in one fatality and left 12 others injured. Earlier, the Israeli military had announced it had warned Mansouri, located approximately 25 kilometers (15 miles) from Tibnin, to evacuate, emphasizing its intent to act against the Iran-backed group operating there.

Notably, this was the first online evacuation warning issued by the Israeli military for Lebanon in over a month. Previously, in late June, flyers were dropped over Mansouri instructing residents to leave, as Israel had designated the village within a self-declared buffer zone in southern Lebanon, a senior Lebanese military official.

Despite the Israeli presence nearby, some Lebanese farmers continued to access their fields and homes in the affected towns. On June 26, Lebanon and Israel reached a US-brokered security agreement aimed at reducing hostilities along the border. However, Israel stated it would maintain a security zone in southern Lebanon to counter the threat posed by Hezbollah.
