Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has embarked on a one-day trip to Amman, Jordan, to participate in a ministerial meeting focused on Jerusalem scheduled for August 5. During this visit, he will reiterate Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate cause.
In addition to attending the meeting, DPM Dar is set to hold bilateral discussions with other foreign ministers attending the event, exchanging perspectives on regional and global developments. The gathering will include foreign ministers from the Arab League and a coalition of Islamic countries, including Pakistan, aiming to develop a unified stance on the rapidly worsening situation in occupied Jerusalem.
The visit to Amman comes at the invitation of Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Al Safadi. As part of the agenda, the attending ministers will also meet with Jordan’s King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein. This engagement underscores Pakistan’s principled commitment to the Palestinian cause and the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and contiguous Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Pakistan, along with other Muslim nations, has consistently condemned the ongoing incursions by extremist Israeli settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque and Al-Haram Al-Sharif, actions carried out under the protection of Israeli forces. The raising of the Israeli flag within the mosque’s courtyards has also been strongly denounced.
In a joint statement issued in June, the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Turkiye, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates declared these provocative acts to be blatant violations of international law, relevant United Nations resolutions, and the established historical and legal status of the holy sites in occupied East Jerusalem.
The Foreign Office has condemned Israel’s ongoing systematic measures aimed at changing the historical, legal, and demographic character of occupied East Jerusalem. These actions are seen as attempts to undermine the sanctity and status of its Islamic and Christian holy sites, further exacerbating tensions in the region.
