Formula One has confirmed it will not schedule back-to-back races in Las Vegas even if the final grands prix in Qatar and Abu Dhabi need to be relocated amid ongoing tensions involving Iran. The Las Vegas Grand Prix is set for November 21, followed by the Qatar Grand Prix on November 29 and the Abu Dhabi finale on December 6.
F1 CEO and President Stefano Domenicali stated that any displaced races would be moved to a European venue rather than adding another event in the United States. Italy’s Imola circuit is currently considered a strong candidate for hosting such relocated races.
Domenicali also mentioned that a final decision on whether the Qatar and Abu Dhabi events require relocation will be made by mid-September. This season’s calendar has already been disrupted by regional instability, with the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix, originally planned for April, cancelled on March 14. This cancellation created a five-week gap between the Japanese Grand Prix on March 29 and the Miami Grand Prix on May 3.
In a notable development, Formula One recently confirmed Malaysia will host a race in October as a replacement for the cancelled Bahrain event. Domenicali emphasized that adding another race in the U.S. is off the table, citing the difficulty of competing with the NFL during the American fall sports season.
