Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari have delivered resolute statements underscoring Pakistan’s unwavering determination to safeguard its sovereignty, territorial boundaries, and citizens. Their declarations come amid escalating tensions and recent cross-border confrontations involving Afghan Taliban forces along the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier. This surge in hostilities has prompted Pakistan’s armed forces to initiate a robust military campaign, named Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, aimed at neutralizing Taliban threats and restoring stability in the region.

The military operation was launched in response to unprovoked attacks by Taliban militants who violated the border, triggering a swift and coordinated counteroffensive by Pakistan’s security forces. security officials, the armed forces successfully targeted and demolished several strategic Taliban strongholds, significantly disrupting their operational capabilities. Following these decisive strikes, reports indicate that Taliban fighters raised white flags at multiple positions, signaling a retreat or surrender in the face of Pakistan’s overwhelming response.

Utilizing a combination of artillery fire and advanced drone technology, including quadcopters, the Pakistani military inflicted substantial damage on Taliban defensive setups. These tactics not only weakened the militants’ hold but also showcased the armed forces’ enhanced operational readiness and technological edge. Military spokesperson Major General Tariq Tarar highlighted that the operation was meticulously planned and executed, resulting in considerable Taliban casualties, with at least 133 militants killed and over 200 wounded. This operation marks a significant escalation in Pakistan’s efforts to counter cross-border terrorism and secure its frontier regions.

In his public address, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Pakistan’s defense and territorial integrity are non-negotiable and that any act of aggression will be met with a firm and appropriate response. He praised the professionalism and dedication of the armed forces, noting that under the leadership of Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the military is performing its duties with a strong sense of national pride and commitment. The Prime Minister further stressed that Pakistan’s military is well-equipped and trained to confront threats both within and beyond its borders, reinforcing the country’s stance as a nation committed to peace but prepared for conflict if necessary.

Echoing the Prime Minister’s sentiments, President Asif Ali Zardari reiterated that Pakistan will not compromise on its peace or territorial sovereignty. He issued a stern warning to any entity that might mistake Pakistan’s peaceful intentions for weakness, stating that such miscalculations would provoke a powerful and comprehensive response from the nation’s armed forces. The President’s message underscored the government’s resolve to ensure that no threat, internal or external, goes unchallenged.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif also weighed in on the situation, expressing that Pakistan’s patience has been exhausted after years of enduring cross-border hostilities. He lamented that hopes for peace following NATO’s withdrawal from Afghanistan were dashed as the Taliban regime instead transformed Afghanistan into a proxy battleground, allegedly influenced by India and serving as a haven for global terrorist groups. Asif highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding efforts to promote regional stability and support Afghan welfare, including hosting over five million Afghan refugees for decades. He pointed out that millions of Afghans continue to live and work in Pakistan, reflecting the deep social and economic ties between the two countries. However, he made it clear that Pakistan’s tolerance has limits and that the current military response is a decisive move to protect national security.

Meanwhile, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the Taliban’s recent attacks on civilian areas, describing them as cowardly and a grave misjudgment that would have serious repercussions. He praised the military’s swift and professional response, emphasizing the armed forces’ vigilance and readiness to defend the nation. Naqvi reassured the public that Pakistan stands united behind its troops and will not tolerate any threats to its citizens or sovereignty. He warned that attempts to harm innocent civilians would be met with severe consequences, reinforcing the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order.

Adding to the chorus of condemnation, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry confirmed that a major military operation is underway against the Afghan Taliban. He remarked that Pakistan had extended numerous opportunities for dialogue with the Taliban leadership, but these efforts were met with hostility and malicious intent. Chaudhry stated that those responsible for attacks within Pakistan have been targeted and eliminated during the ongoing strikes, signaling a clear message that aggression will not be tolerated.

National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq also praised the security forces for their prompt and effective reaction to the Taliban’s aggression. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability, accusing Afghanistan of acting as a proxy for India and destabilizing the area through terrorist activities. Sadiq described the nighttime attacks on Pakistani border posts as shameful and cowardly, emphasizing that Pakistan’s history of patience and dialogue should not be mistaken for weakness. His remarks highlighted the broader geopolitical complexities influencing the conflict and Pakistan’s firm stance against external interference.

Provincial leaders have also voiced their support for the military’s actions. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi stated that while Afghanistan initiated the conflict, Pakistan is determined to bring it to an end. He pointed out that weapons left behind by the US in Afghanistan are now being turned against Pakistan, underscoring the regional security challenges. Kundi warned that if the Afghan Taliban fail to control their forces, Pakistan will take necessary measures to protect its interests. Similarly, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the unprovoked firing by Taliban militants, affirming that Pakistan will defend its territorial integrity at all costs and will not tolerate safe havens for terrorists within neighboring borders.

In summary, the statements from Pakistan’s highest offices and the coordinated military response reflect a unified and determined approach to confronting cross-border threats. The situation remains tense, but the government and armed forces have made it clear that Pakistan’s sovereignty and security will be defended vigorously, with no room for compromise. This episode further highlights the fragile security dynamics in the region and Pakistan’s ongoing challenges in managing its border with Afghanistan amid complex geopolitical pressures.
