Pakistan Condemns Attacks on Saudi Arabia, Reaffirms Strong Support

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday vehemently condemned the recent missile attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, describing them as a clear breach of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for Saudi Arabia’s security amid rising regional tensions.

The prime minister’s statement came a day after Saudi authorities announced that coalition forces had successfully intercepted ballistic missiles launched by the Houthi militia from Yemen towards the southern region of Saudi Arabia. A spokesperson for the Saudi-led military coalition in Yemen confirmed the interception of these missiles, which were fired by the so-called terrorist Houthi group.

PM Shehbaz Sharif characterized these hostile actions as reprehensible and warned that they risk further destabilizing peace and security in the region. He emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during this critical period.

Furthermore, the prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting all genuine initiatives aimed at fostering peace, stability, security, and mutual understanding throughout the region. This stance aligns with the mutual defence agreement signed by Riyadh and Islamabad in September 2025, which obligates both nations to consider any aggression against either as an attack on both.

In a significant development under this pact, Pakistan deployed fighter jets and additional military personnel to Saudi Arabia in April. These forces arrived at King Abdulaziz Air Base in the eastern province to enhance joint defence cooperation and contribute to regional and international security, as confirmed by Saudi Arabia’s defence ministry on April 11.
