Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir declared on Wednesday that Pakistan’s armed forces are realigning their operational and development strategies to meet the evolving nature of warfare. He emphasized the commitment to eradicate cross-border terrorism and dismantle militant networks supported by hostile intelligence agencies.
Speaking to the graduating officers of the National Security and War Course at the National Defence University in Islamabad, the field marshal highlighted that modern conflicts demand strategic clarity and institutional professionalism to effectively counter conventional, hybrid, and sub-conventional threats.
He acknowledged the role of the National Defence University in preparing future military and civilian leaders to tackle increasingly complex security challenges. The CDF underscored the armed forces’ awareness of state-sponsored efforts by hostile intelligence agencies aimed at destabilizing Pakistan.
Field Marshal Munir warned that proxy groups and networks operating under the protection of these hostile agencies would not be permitted to jeopardize the country’s internal security or economic stability. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm stance on counterterrorism, asserting that terrorism originating from across the borders would be crushed with the full force of the state.
He further stated that the armed forces, backed by national support, would ensure the complete dismantling of terrorist sanctuaries and their facilitators used by proxy groups. The field marshal stressed that victories in warfare are not achieved through media rhetoric or political slogans but through faith, unity, and discipline.
Expressing confidence in the professionalism, morale, and operational readiness of Pakistan’s armed forces, he urged the graduating officers to embody integrity, selfless service, and unwavering dedication to the nation.
Upon his arrival at the National Defence University, the field marshal was welcomed by the university president, marking the beginning of his address to the graduating class.
