In Jhelum, over 600 residents were awarded free land allotment letters as part of the “Apni Zameen Apna Ghar” housing scheme. State Minister Bilal Azhar Kiani personally handed out allotment letters to more than 400 beneficiaries during a formal event.
He highlighted that, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, applications from 730 Jhelum residents for 3-marla plots have been approved. This initiative underscores the government’s dedication to ensuring housing for its citizens, recognizing shelter as a fundamental necessity.
Minister Kiani noted that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has already facilitated housing for thousands of families across Punjab. Meanwhile, at the federal level, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has introduced a subsidized housing loan program to further support homeownership.
Loans of up to Rs1 million are being offered through banks at a low interest rate of 5 percent. The minister further explained that Jhelum received a total of 5,942 applications via an online portal. Following NADRA verification, 4,303 applicants were deemed eligible.
Through a transparent computerized draw, 730 applicants were selected successfully. To date, over 600 deserving individuals—including elderly citizens, women, and persons with special needs—have been issued allotment letters.
Additionally, allottees have the option to secure interest-free loans up to Rs1.5 million from the Bank of Punjab to assist with construction expenses, making the scheme more accessible and supportive for beneficiaries.
