Rawalpindi police have successfully detained three more inmates who had fled custody earlier this week, increasing the total number of recaptured escapees to seven. This development comes after a dramatic escape involving 14 under-trial prisoners on Monday.
The incident occurred near Sihala when the prisoners, who were being transported back to Adiala Jail following a routine court appearance in Kahuta, allegedly threw chilli powder at the police officers escorting them. This distraction enabled the group to break free from the prison van and flee the scene.
In the immediate aftermath, authorities managed to apprehend three of the escapees shortly after the breakout. Since then, law enforcement has intensified their efforts, leading to the recent arrests of three additional fugitives. Despite these successes, a search operation remains active as police continue to pursue the remaining inmates who are still at large.
The police have vowed to maintain their efforts until all the escaped prisoners are brought back into custody, emphasizing the importance of restoring security and order following this serious breach. The ongoing manhunt highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement in managing prisoner transport and ensuring public safety.
