Pakistan has called on the international community to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies responsibly to enhance global food security and nutrition. Speaking virtually at the Forum on Harnessing Artificial Intelligence, Digitalisation and Data Governance for Food Security and Nutrition held in Rome, Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain highlighted the transformative potential of emerging technologies in creating more resilient and inclusive agrifood systems.

In a significant development, the minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to integrating modern technological tools within its agricultural sector. He emphasized that AI and digitalisation present vital opportunities to confront challenges such as climate change, limited resources, and inefficiencies in supply chains that jeopardize food security worldwide.

Meanwhile, Hussain underscored the importance of global collaboration, pledging that Pakistan would continue to engage closely with international partners to harness the advantages of AI and digital innovations. He also called for responsible governance of data and technology to guarantee fair access, especially for developing countries.

These remarks reflect Pakistan’s proactive approach to embedding advanced solutions into its agricultural policies while advocating for multilateral efforts to address one of the most urgent issues facing humanity today.
