Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov engaged in a telephone discussion on Tuesday focusing on the shifting dynamics in the Middle East, prioritizing civilian safety and efforts to foster regional stability.

Araghchi updated Lavrov on a recently signed memorandum of understanding and developments related to a draft agreement between Iran and the United States. The two officials exchanged perspectives on security challenges in the region and emphasized the critical role of diplomatic dialogue in resolving ongoing conflicts and addressing humanitarian issues.

Both ministers stressed the urgent need to protect civilians amid persistent regional tensions. They also called for an end to Israeli military operations in Lebanon, warning that any escalation could jeopardize peace efforts and destabilize the area further.

Reaffirming their dedication to diplomatic solutions, the foreign ministers highlighted the importance of dialogue and international collaboration to ease tensions and promote lasting peace.

In a significant development, Lavrov expressed strong support for the draft agreement between Iran and the United States, describing it as a constructive move toward enhancing regional security. He assured that Russia would fully back Iran in implementing the accord and hoped it would contribute to broader peace and stability.

Lavrov also urged the international community, including the United Nations Security Council, to endorse the memorandum of understanding. He emphasized that widespread global support is crucial for the successful execution of the agreement and for fostering long-term stability in the Middle East.
