The US Mission in Pakistan held a landmark Freedom 250 event on Saturday to commemorate 250 years of American democracy and to celebrate the enduring partnership between the United States and Pakistan. This occasion was part of a year-long series of festivities leading up to the United States’ 250th anniversary, showcasing the strong and multifaceted ties shared by the two nations.

The celebration was attended by a distinguished group of guests representing various sectors of Pakistani society, including government officials, business leaders, members of civil society, academics, and cultural figures. Their presence highlighted the wide-ranging and dynamic nature of the US-Pakistan relationship, which is founded on shared interests, mutual respect, and a common vision for a secure and prosperous future.

In her keynote speech, Charge d’Affaires Natalie Baker emphasized the importance of Freedom 250 not only as a significant milestone in American history but also as a tribute to the shared values of liberty, democracy, and cooperation that connect the United States and Pakistan. She reflected on the founding principles of America and their ongoing inspiration to nations and peoples worldwide. “Tonight, we celebrate 250 years of American freedom, nearly 80 years of friendship between our two peoples, and everything we are going to build together in the years ahead. The best is not behind us. It is in front of us, and we are going to get there together,” stated Chargé Baker.

The program included the presentation of Colours by the US Marine Corps Colour Guard, performances of the national anthems of Pakistan and the United States, and musical acts featuring the US Air Force Central Command Band alongside Pakistani artist Bilal Saeed. The event concluded with a spectacular fireworks display illuminating the Islamabad sky, serving as a symbolic tribute to America’s 250th birthday and the promising future the two countries aim to create together.

Freedom 250 is a comprehensive, year-long global initiative organized by US missions worldwide to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the US Declaration of Independence. This national celebration was initiated by President Donald Trump under the theme “A New Era of American Greatness,” with US embassies and consulates carrying this spirit to every corner of the world.
