Police, supported by counter-terrorism units, successfully dismantled multiple terrorist hideouts in a forested region near Wanda Painda Khan on Friday. This operation targeted safe havens used by militants to plan attacks along a vital inter-provincial route.
A police official stated that the Saddar police carried out the mission in collaboration with Counter-Terrorism Department commandos, Elite Force, and Quick Response Force personnel. The action followed intelligence reports indicating the presence of terrorists and criminals within the dense forest areas.
Authorities conducted thorough searches of the hideouts before setting them on fire to prevent their future use as militant bases. These locations had posed a significant security threat, especially along the Lakki-Darra Tang segment of the Bannu-Mianwali Road, a key link between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
During the operation, temporary checkpoints were established on roads and dirt tracks leading to the forest. Suspected houses and vehicles in the vicinity were also inspected. However, it remains unclear if any arrests were made during the raid.
In a related development, community elders from the Abdulkhel area joined forces with local police to combat crime and social issues within the district. This collaboration was agreed upon during a meeting held at the District Headquarters Complex in Tajazai on Friday.
District Police Officer Nazir Khan and other government officials participated in the gathering, where attendees resolved to implement a joint strategy aimed at eradicating narcotics trafficking, aerial firing, and other social evils affecting the region.
