The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled its most recent player rankings, highlighting notable progress for four Pakistani cricketers. Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and spinner Abrar Ahmed have all advanced in their respective standings, reflecting their recent strong performances on the international stage.

In the Test batting rankings, England’s Joe Root continues to dominate as the number one batsman, maintaining his top position. Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra made a significant leap, climbing two spots to secure ninth place. Despite these shifts, no Pakistani batsman currently ranks within the top ten in the Test format. Rizwan, who has made a comeback into the rankings, improved his position by one place to 20th, while Babar Azam also moved up one spot to 21st.

Notably, New Zealand’s Tom Blundell made an impressive jump, rising eight places to 40th in the Test batting rankings. On the bowling front, India’s Jasprit Bumrah retained his number one ranking, with Australia’s Pat Cummins advancing one place to third. Pakistani spinner Noman Ali maintained his standing at seventh in the Test bowling rankings, underscoring his consistent performances.

These updates from the ICC rankings provide a snapshot of the current competitive landscape in international cricket, with Pakistani players making steady progress amid fierce global competition. The rise of players like Shaheen Shah Afridi and Abrar Ahmed further highlights Pakistan’s growing strength in both pace and spin bowling departments.
