Lahore Traffic Police Unveil Plan for Pakistan-Australia ODI Series

The Lahore Traffic Police have announced a detailed traffic management strategy ahead of the Pakistan-Australia One-Day International (ODI) series, aiming to assist cricket enthusiasts and maintain smooth vehicular movement throughout the city.

Chief Traffic Officer Abdul Rahim Shirazi revealed that more than 1,000 traffic wardens will be stationed near Gaddafi Stadium, along team routes, and on alternative roadways during the matches. Oversight of these arrangements will be provided by two Superintendents of Police, six Deputy Superintendents of Police, and 90 inspectors.

To tackle congestion caused by unauthorized parking, the traffic department will deploy 10 forklifts and five breakdown vehicles to swiftly remove obstructing vehicles.

Four specific parking zones have been designated for spectators to facilitate easy access to the stadium. Key thoroughfares such as Mall Road, Canal Road, Jail Road, and Main Boulevard Gulberg will remain open throughout the event, with no full road closures planned. However, brief traffic halts may occur during team movements.

Supporters traveling via Mall Road, Jail Road, Canal Road, and Ferozepur Road are advised to park at Government College for Boys. Those coming from Thokar Niaz Baig and Kahna should use Kalma Chowk and Centre Point to reach this parking area.

Meanwhile, fans arriving from Cantonment and Defence sectors can utilize parking facilities at Sunfort Hotel and Liberty Market before heading to the stadium.

The traffic authorities have urged the public and cricket fans to adhere to traffic guidelines and make use of the allocated parking spaces to avoid disruptions during the ODI series.
