The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued a cautionary notice regarding the circulation of counterfeit Rs5,000 banknotes. This alert aims to protect the public and financial institutions from falling victim to fraudulent currency. The SBP has outlined specific features that can help individuals verify the authenticity of these high-value notes. These measures are crucial in maintaining trust in the national currency and preventing financial losses.

In a significant development, the SBP emphasized the importance of recognizing security elements embedded in the genuine Rs5,000 note. These include watermarks, security threads, and color-shifting ink, which are designed to be difficult to replicate. The bank has urged citizens, retailers, and banks to remain vigilant and report any suspicious notes to authorities immediately. This step is part of a broader effort to curb the spread of counterfeit currency within the economy.

Meanwhile, the warning comes at a time when Pakistan’s economy is striving to stabilize amid various challenges. Fake currency circulation can undermine economic confidence and disrupt financial transactions. By educating the public on how to identify legitimate notes, the SBP is reinforcing the integrity of the monetary system. This initiative also supports law enforcement agencies in their crackdown on counterfeiters, ultimately safeguarding the country’s financial health.
