Lahore’s Chief Traffic Officer, Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, has issued a stern warning to parents, one-wheelers, and reckless motorcyclists, announcing a citywide crackdown during the upcoming Eid holidays aimed at curbing hazardous road behavior.
In a significant development, the traffic police will conduct a special operation on Thursday targeting underage riders, triple riding, one-wheeling, zigzag driving, and other forms of dangerous motorcycle riding. This initiative is part of intensified efforts to ensure public safety during the festive period.
Shirazi emphasized that strict measures will also be taken against groups of bikers and those operating motorcycles without silencers. The crackdown will involve special police deployments at 90 key locations across Lahore, focusing on areas prone to one-wheeling and reckless riding, especially during the busy Eid nights.
The CTO urged parents to vigilantly monitor their children throughout the holidays to prevent minors from performing risky stunts or breaking traffic laws. He also appealed to the public to cooperate with traffic authorities and adhere to regulations to guarantee safe travel for all road users during Eid.
Notably, incidents of traffic accidents and reckless riding tend to increase during Eid, particularly involving young motorcyclists performing stunts on crowded roads late at night. This crackdown aims to address these challenges and promote safer roads across the city.
