On May 19, a coalition of countries including Pakistan, Türkiye, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Jordan, Libya, Maldives, and Spain issued a strong condemnation of the Israeli attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla. This civilian humanitarian mission aims to highlight the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza.

In a joint statement released from Islamabad, the foreign ministers of these nations expressed their deepest concern over the renewed Israeli assaults on the flotilla. They described these actions as serious violations of international law and called for the immediate release of all detained activists.

The ministers emphasized their grave concern regarding repeated Israeli interventions against previous flotillas operating in international waters. They highlighted that such attacks on civilian vessels and the detention of activists constitute breaches of both international humanitarian law and broader international legal standards.

Concern was also voiced for the safety and well-being of those aboard the flotilla. The statement urged full respect for the rights and dignity of the detained individuals, underscoring the need for their prompt release.

Furthermore, the statement criticized Israel’s repeated attacks on peaceful humanitarian missions, viewing them as a blatant disregard for international law and the principle of freedom of navigation. It called upon the global community to take decisive action to protect civilians and humanitarian operations, stressing the importance of ending impunity and ensuring accountability for such violations.
