At least 10 people lost their lives and five others were seriously injured after a car collided with a gas bowser near Dalbandin in Balochistan’s Chagai district late on Friday. The crash occurred on the Dalbandin road when the two vehicles collided head-on, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Chagai Abid Sherzai. Earlier accounts had identified the larger vehicle as a trailer truck traveling from Quetta to Taftan.
The passenger car was reportedly carrying around 15 individuals and was overloaded at the time of the accident. The force of the collision was so intense that several passengers died instantly, while others sustained critical injuries. Rescue teams and local officials promptly arrived at the scene and transported the wounded to Prince Fahad Hospital in Dalbandin for medical treatment.
DSP Sherzai confirmed that five injured passengers were receiving care, with hospital staff noting that some were in critical condition. Authorities have detained the driver of the larger vehicle and initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
In a significant development, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed sorrow over the tragic loss of life in the accident. Notably, a similar road accident occurred in January 2026 near Yakmach in the same district along the RCD Highway, where seven people died and three were injured in a collision between two double-cabin vehicles. That incident also involved severe impact, leaving both vehicles heavily damaged, with the deceased including four women and two children.
The RCD Highway, which connects Pakistan to Iran, is known for its remote and challenging terrain. It has been the site of numerous serious accidents over time, often attributed to speeding, reckless driving, and poor road conditions, factors that continue to pose significant risks to travelers on this route.
