Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf has underscored the importance of maintaining continuous combat readiness to address both traditional and emerging challenges in the maritime domain. He delivered these remarks during the Pakistan Navy’s Command and Staff Conference held at the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad.

In light of the current situation in the Middle East, Admiral Ashraf pointed out that new threats to maritime security include safeguarding freedom of navigation, preventing disruptions to critical Sea Lines of Communication (SLOCs), and managing instability around strategic maritime choke-points. He emphasized that acquiring specialized and advanced technologies is a strategic imperative for the Pakistan Navy to effectively counter these challenges.

Highlighting the Navy’s crucial role in promoting peace and stability, the naval chief noted the Pakistan Navy’s active presence in the Gulf of Oman (GOO), which reassures the maritime community. The conference also marked the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, honoring the sacrifices made during the May 2025 conflict. Admiral Ashraf described this victory as a lasting symbol of national unity and the steadfast determination to repel any external aggression decisively.

The forum conducted a thorough review of the Navy’s operational readiness, ongoing projects, and future plans. Discussions focused on aligning naval priorities with the shifting dynamics of regional maritime security, aiming to establish a clear strategy for operational preparedness across various naval warfare domains.
