Bail Granted to SSP’s Son After Karachi DHA Police Scuffle

A judicial magistrate in Karachi granted bail on Saturday to Khubaib, the son of a senior superintendent of police (SSP), who was arrested following an altercation with police officers in Defence Housing Authority (DHA). The bail was approved against surety bonds amounting to Rs50,000.

The incident occurred a day prior when Khubaib was involved in a heated exchange with police personnel, a confrontation that was captured on video and widely circulated on social media. The footage showed Khubaib allegedly misbehaving with the police while asserting his relation to a senior police official.

Subsequently, a first information report (FIR) was filed at the Defence police station based on a complaint lodged by a police officer. Khubaib appeared before the judicial magistrate (South) to present his bail application.

During the hearing, Khubaib’s defense lawyer contended that the charges against his client were baseless and fabricated. The counsel argued that Khubaib neither resisted the police nor obstructed their official duties. Furthermore, the lawyer stated that Khubaib, accompanied by his parents, had visited the police station after the incident, where an officer reportedly acknowledged an error, and the matter was amicably settled at that time.

The defense also highlighted a procedural irregularity, noting that the FIR was registered approximately nine hours after the incident, which was described as unusual. After considering the arguments from both sides, the magistrate granted post-arrest bail to Khubaib.
