Iran Commends Pakistan’s Ceasefire Role, Reaffirms Distrust of US

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has commended Pakistan for its significant role in facilitating ceasefire initiatives within the region, while reaffirming Tehran’s deep-seated mistrust of the United States and its determination to uphold its rights under international law.

These remarks were made during a meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, where President Pezeshkian emphasized Islamabad’s responsible involvement in efforts aimed at easing tensions and fostering dialogue among regional actors.

Highlighting Pakistan’s mediation, Pezeshkian described the country’s contribution to the ceasefire process as notable and indicative of its broader dedication to regional stability. He expressed Iran’s desire for peace, stability, and strong fraternal relations with neighboring states, stressing the critical need for cooperation amid a volatile geopolitical environment.

In a significant development, the Iranian leader underscored the importance of unity among Muslim nations, suggesting that solidarity within the Islamic Ummah is vital to countering what he identified as Israel’s strategic objectives in the region. He also expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s hospitality towards Iranian delegations in Islamabad, recognizing such dialogue as essential for maintaining diplomatic channels during periods of heightened tension.

Addressing Iran’s stance toward the United States, Pezeshkian reiterated the Iranian people’s lack of trust in Washington, citing repeated breaches of commitments. He affirmed Iran’s steadfast position to secure its rights within the bounds of international law and warned that the US would not prevail in the ongoing regional conflicts. He cautioned that escalating tensions could lead to serious consequences for both regional and global stakeholders.

The Iranian president further accused Israel of pursuing strategic ambitions that contribute to regional instability, emphasizing that collective efforts and unity among regional countries are crucial to counter these developments.

This meeting reflects sustained diplomatic engagement between Islamabad and Tehran, with Pakistan actively positioning itself as a mediator to encourage de-escalation and prevent further conflict in the Middle East. Pakistani officials continue outreach to multiple parties to promote dialogue and peace.

President Pezeshkian’s statements coincide with broader discussions on ceasefire arrangements and potential negotiations involving key regional and international actors, with Pakistan playing a central role in hosting and facilitating these talks.

Both Iran and Pakistan reaffirmed the necessity of ongoing engagement, dialogue, and cooperation to secure peace and stability amid an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape.
