Taylor Swift Leads 2024 American Music Awards with Eight Nods

Taylor Swift is once again the frontrunner at this year’s American Music Awards, securing eight nominations. These include prestigious categories such as artist of the year, song of the year for “The Fate of Ophelia,” and album of the year for “The Life of a Showgirl.” Swift, who holds the record for the most AMA wins in the event’s history, had six nominations last year.

Her 2023 Eras Tour became the highest-grossing concert tour ever, and her initiative to re-record her early albums has been praised for inspiring artists to gain greater control over their music rights.

Following closely are Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Dean, SOMBR, and Morgan Wallen, each receiving seven nominations. Carpenter is also nominated for artist of the year, while Dean and SOMBR earned their first AMA nods, including new artist of the year.

Notably, the vocalists behind Netflix’s Oscar-winning animated musical “KPop Demon Hunters” also received nominations. EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami are contenders for song of the year, best vocal performance, and best pop song for “Golden,” a hit from the film. A win would mark their first AMA trophy.

Fans will have the opportunity to vote for the winners, who will be announced during a live ceremony hosted by actor and singer Queen Latifah in Las Vegas on May 25. The event will be broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+.

Queen Latifah, a Grammy, Emmy, and Golden Globe winner, has had a long-standing presence in music, film, and television, with accomplishments spanning hip-hop albums and an Oscar-nominated acting role.

The nominations were determined by AMA organizers based on Billboard chart performance, streaming and album sales, radio airplay, and social media engagement.
