Army Leadership Condemns Attacks on Saudi Sites, Warns of Risks to Mideast Peace

On Tuesday, Pakistan’s military leadership strongly denounced recent assaults on Saudi Arabia’s petrochemical and industrial infrastructure, describing them as an unwarranted escalation that threatens ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at peacefully resolving the Middle East conflict. This stance was articulated during the 274th Corps Commanders’ Conference held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, chaired by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir.

The military’s statement highlighted deep concern over the attacks on Saudi Arabia’s industrial complexes, emphasizing that such actions undermine sincere attempts to settle the conflict through peaceful channels. It noted that Saudi Arabia’s restraint amid serious provocations has so far facilitated mediation and diplomatic solutions. However, these aggressive acts carry significant consequences that could derail the current peaceful initiatives and the conducive environment necessary for dialogue.

Earlier the same day, Pakistan’s Foreign Office also condemned Iranian strikes on Saudi energy facilities, labeling them a serious breach of Saudi territorial sovereignty and a dangerous escalation in the ongoing Middle East war. Notably, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had signed a Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement in Riyadh last year, under which any attack on either nation is considered an aggression against both.

Meanwhile, the military forum offered Fateha prayers for the martyrs from the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and innocent civilians who sacrificed their lives defending the country. Their sacrifices were hailed as the foundation of Pakistan’s national security.

Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed satisfaction with the armed forces’ unwavering professionalism, operational excellence, and steadfast dedication to national defense and intelligence-driven counter-terrorism operations. He underscored that through the combined efforts of the government, military, and citizens, Pakistan continues to strengthen its security, bolster economic resilience, and enhance its regional and international stature.

The conference conducted a thorough review of the current internal and external security landscape, reaffirming a relentless commitment to eliminate terrorist proxies operating under Indian and other foreign sponsorships, along with their facilitators and supporters. The military leadership resolved to maintain the momentum of Operation Ghazab lil-Haq until terrorist safe havens and the use of Afghan soil against Pakistan are completely eradicated.

The statement also acknowledged the government’s vigorous efforts to end the Middle East conflict, echoing calls for restraint, dialogue, and de-escalation. It reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to principled diplomacy and constructive engagement, highlighting the country’s role as a responsible regional actor contributing to peace and stability.

Furthermore, the forum firmly rejected ongoing disinformation campaigns, baseless accusations, and false flag operations attributed to India, noting that such tactics have been internationally discredited. It expressed concern over persistent human rights abuses by Indian authorities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), citing recent fake encounters used to conceal extrajudicial killings.

In his closing remarks, Field Marshal Munir instructed commanders to uphold the highest levels of operational readiness, professionalism, and adaptability. He conveyed full confidence in the armed forces’ capability to counter all threats and safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
