John Lithgow has expressed deep commitment to his role as Albus Dumbledore in the upcoming Harry Potter television series, while also revealing his concerns about taking on the part at his age. In the new documentary, “Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic,” which accompanies the TV reboot of the beloved film franchise, the 80-year-old actor opened up about the challenges of filming such a demanding role during this stage of his life.

He reflected on the reality that during the production of the first season, he would be turning 80, and by the time the series concludes, he would be around 88 years old. Lithgow described this prospect as “an extremely difficult thing to contemplate,” highlighting the physical and emotional demands involved.

Meanwhile, Lithgow also spoke highly of the young cast members of the HBO series, including Arabella Dominic, McLaughlin, Stanton, and Alastair Stout, who portray Harry, Hermione, and Ron, respectively. He noted, “They’re gonna grow up in this. And I’m gonna grow older with them,” emphasizing the unique dynamic between the veteran actor and the youthful ensemble.

The “Daddy’s Home 2” star further praised the new cast, describing Dominic, McLaughlin, Stanton, and Stout as “an amazing ensemble” who share a strong bond and genuine affection for one another. This camaraderie, he suggested, will be a key strength of the series.

The Harry Potter TV adaptation is scheduled to premiere on December 25 on HBO Max, marking a highly anticipated return to the wizarding world for fans worldwide.
