Malala Yousafzai Reaffirms Her Stance on Israeli Actions in Palestine

Nobel Peace Prize recipient Malala Yousafzai has once again emphasized her strong condemnation of Israel’s actions in Palestine, describing them as genocide. During a podcast hosted by singer and education advocate Shehzad Roy, Malala stated, “In October 2023, I declared that Israel is committing genocide in Palestine.”

She made these remarks while responding to criticism on social media accusing her of silence on the issue. Malala clarified that she had openly labeled the Israeli conduct in Palestine as “genocide” and had shared posts about the situation. Despite this, some individuals continued to allege that she had not spoken out.

In a significant development, Malala highlighted the devastating impact of Israel’s two-year campaign, which has resulted in the deaths of over 72,000 Palestinians, predominantly civilians, health authorities in Gaza. The campaign has also caused widespread famine, destroyed most buildings, and displaced the majority of the population, often multiple times.

Notably, Malala cited her prompt condemnation of a deadly strike on a girls’ school in Minab, Iran, last month, which killed more than 175 children and teachers. Despite her swift response, misinformation persisted, with some accusing her of ignoring the tragedy.

Expressing a hope for greater awareness, the Nobel laureate urged people to verify facts before making accusations, stating, “My small hope is that people at least check the facts.”
