Taylor Swift has garnered acclaim from the estate of Elizabeth Taylor following her homage to the legendary Hollywood actress. The tribute is part of Swift’s The Life of Showgirl project, released during International Women’s Month, and features a music video constructed entirely from archival footage of Elizabeth Taylor, who passed away at age 79.

The video showcases clips from some of Elizabeth Taylor’s most iconic films, including A Place in the Sun, Cleopatra, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, and Father of the Bride. It also highlights visual elements such as her famous 33-carat Krupp Diamond ring, adding depth to the tribute.

Swift previously shared that she sought and received approval from Elizabeth Taylor’s estate during an interview on Radio 2 after the album’s release. In a significant development, a representative from the estate praised the project for its dedication to Elizabeth Taylor’s legacy, noting that it is composed solely of archival film clips, celebrating her from start to finish.

The estate expressed delight at the tribute, emphasizing the care Swift took to highlight Elizabeth Taylor as a true icon and trailblazer. They remarked on Elizabeth’s unapologetic approach to life, her grace in managing public fame, and her fierce protection of her private world, qualities that made her remarkable.

Swift also acknowledged the challenges of global fame, suggesting that Elizabeth Taylor navigated those pressures with authenticity and strength. The estate feels honored by Swift’s tribute and believes Elizabeth would have appreciated every moment of it.

Reflecting on her interaction with the estate, Swift said, “People like Elizabeth Taylor, we go to her estate and let them know and they were lovely about it.” Elizabeth Taylor is remembered not only for her Oscar-winning roles in BUtterfield 8 and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? but also for her public life and notable personal relationships, including her marriage to Richard Burton, who died at age 58.
