Former Iran FM Kharazi Critically Injured, Wife Killed in Tehran Strike

Former Iranian foreign minister Kamal Kharazi sustained critical injuries after his home in Tehran was hit during ongoing military operations involving the U.S. and Israel. The attack also resulted in the death of his wife. Iranian officials noted that Kharazi had recently engaged in diplomatic efforts with Pakistan concerning a possible meeting between Iranian representatives and U.S. Vice President JD Vance.

Kharazi was immediately hospitalized due to the severity of his injuries, while no official update has been provided on his current condition. The strike occurred amid rising tensions and intensified air raids targeting strategic locations in and around Tehran, as the conflict between Iran and the U.S.-Israeli alliance escalates.

Kharazi, a seasoned diplomat, served as Iran’s foreign minister from 1997 to 2005 and remains a prominent figure in the country’s foreign policy. He currently leads the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, an advisory body influencing Iran’s international strategy. Additionally, he was a close adviser to the late supreme leader Ali Khamenei and has continued to counsel the new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, following Ali Khamenei’s death on February 28, coinciding with the start of the present conflict.

This attack on Kharazi’s residence highlights the expanding reach of the conflict, which now increasingly impacts senior political figures and civilian areas. Experts warn that such incidents could provoke further escalation as both sides persist in exchanging threats and military actions.

There has been no immediate comment from U.S. or Israeli authorities regarding the reported strike on Kharazi’s home.
