A significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed at the Prime Minister’s Office under the leadership of Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, to initiate the ACT AI Initiative—Awareness, Competency & Tools Training for Artificial Intelligence. With the MoU now finalized, the project has moved into its active phase.
University focal persons have been mobilized across the country, and student enrollment is currently open via the official portal actai.aiskillbridge.pk. A national launch event is scheduled to officially inaugurate the programme, with the first batch expected to start training within the next few weeks. Subsequent cohorts will operate on two-month cycles to maintain continuous engagement and impact nationwide.
The programme is entirely free of charge and emphasizes inclusivity, targeting an equal gender ratio of 50:50 and encouraging participation from students of varied academic disciplines beyond computer science. This initiative represents a collaborative effort among the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), the Higher Education Commission Pakistan (HEC), and AI SkillBridge, a subsidiary of AXI Technologies, showcasing a robust public-private partnership to enhance AI education throughout Pakistan.
ACT AI is recognized as the country’s first nationally coordinated university-level AI skills programme, designed to equip young people with the expertise needed to thrive in the global digital economy. Each cohort will train up to 6,000 students across roughly 100 universities, including institutions in all four provinces, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
AI SkillBridge, supported by AXI Technologies, will manage the programme’s full implementation, covering curriculum development, training delivery, digital infrastructure, student administration, and national outreach efforts. The intensive eight-week, competency-based course focuses on practical, job-ready skills in areas such as generative AI, agentic AI systems, AI productivity tools, automation, and sector-specific AI applications.
Training sessions will be broadcast live and synchronized from Islamabad through the HEC Smart Classroom network, ensuring consistent, high-quality instruction across the country. The curriculum is structured around four key pillars: Foundations of AI, AI Applications Across Sectors, AI for Economic Empowerment, and Future of AI and National Preparedness. The programme aims to prepare students for AI-enabled careers, freelancing, entrepreneurship, and active participation in the global digital marketplace.
Within this partnership, NAVTTC will act as the national endorsement body to align the programme with federal skills development priorities, while HEC will facilitate institutional access via its university network and Smart Classroom facilities. AI SkillBridge, backed by AXI Technologies, will lead the operational execution and delivery of the initiative.
