    Scott Mills Investigation Resurfaces Following Sudden Departure

    Scott Mills has come under renewed investigation after it was revealed he was interviewed by police in connection with historic allegations involving a teenage boy under the age of 16. This development follows his unexpected departure from the .

    The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Mills, who was in his 40s at the time, was questioned under caution in 2018 as part of an inquiry into alleged incidents said to have occurred between 1997 and 2000.

    The probe originally began in 2016 following a referral from another police force and was subsequently handed over to the Crown Prosecution Service. Prosecutors later concluded there was insufficient evidence to proceed with charges, leading to the formal closure of the case in May 2019.

    In a significant development, these details have resurfaced after the announced Mills was no longer associated with the broadcaster, without providing an explanation for his sudden exit.

    The timing of the re-emergence of this investigation has prompted questions about whether it influenced the decision to end Mills’ tenure. It remains unclear if the historic allegations were connected to his departure.

    Notably, reports indicate that senior executives at the time were unaware of the allegations, adding further ambiguity to the circumstances surrounding the events.

    Mills had a career spanning more than 25 years at the and was one of its most prominent presenters. He most recently hosted the Radio 2 breakfast show, having taken over from Zoe Ball in 2025.

    His exit represents another high-profile departure amid a series of controversies involving on-air personalities in recent years.

    Police emphasized that although the case did not meet the evidential threshold for charges, all such allegations are treated with utmost seriousness.
