WhatsApp is launching a range of new features aimed at making messaging easier and more efficient, including an AI-driven tool that suggests replies tailored to the context of conversations. Owned by Meta, the app is also introducing enhancements for storage optimization, photo editing using Meta AI, and better chat management capabilities.
In a significant development, the app’s “Writing Help” feature, originally introduced in August 2025, has been upgraded. Previously, Writing Help allowed users to rephrase messages, check grammar, and modify tone. The latest update now incorporates AI-generated suggestions to assist users in crafting messages with precise phrasing. Meta highlights that this feature is designed to help users “get their message just right” without leaving the app, while ensuring that chats remain private during use.
To access the new AI tools, users simply tap the chat bar, select the stickers icon, and then choose the pencil with sparkles icon.
Other notable improvements include enhanced storage management, enabling users to identify and delete large files within specific chats without having to remove entire conversations. WhatsApp also offers the option to clear media selectively while preserving message history.
Photo editing capabilities have been upgraded with Meta AI, allowing users to edit images directly within chats by removing unwanted objects, changing backgrounds, or applying different styles.
Additional updates include the ability to transfer chat history between iOS and Android devices as well as within the same platform. iOS users can now log into two WhatsApp accounts simultaneously, a feature that has been available on Android for some time. Furthermore, sticker suggestions have been improved, with the app now offering relevant stickers when users type emojis.
These updates are being rolled out gradually and will become available to all users over the coming weeks.
