Bernie Sanders Criticizes Trump’s Threats Over Iran Strait of Hormuz Tensions

As tensions between the United States and Iran intensify over the Strait of Hormuz dispute, political rhetoric in the US has grown increasingly heated. Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders sharply criticized President Donald Trump’s recent statements, describing them as reckless and dangerous. Sanders highlighted the timing of Trump’s remarks on Easter Sunday as especially troubling, warning that such inflammatory language risks escalating global tensions and further destabilizing the Middle East.

In a strong call for restraint, Sanders urged Congress to prioritize diplomatic efforts over provocative threats, emphasizing the urgent need to avoid military conflict. “This is a moment for calm and diplomacy, not aggressive posturing,” he asserted. This exchange underscores the widening political divide in Washington amid the ongoing crisis surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.

Experts note that these confrontational exchanges could influence the future course of US foreign policy and affect regional stability in the days ahead. Earlier, President Trump issued a forceful warning in a social media post on Sunday, stating that if the Strait of Hormuz remained closed, the United States would target Iran’s power plants and bridges on Tuesday. “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!!” Trump declared, referring to the critical shipping lane Tehran has effectively blocked since US and Israeli attacks on Iran over a month ago.

Trump’s post included explicit language, demanding, “Open the F*****’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH!” He concluded the Easter morning message with the phrase, “Praise be to Allah.” Meanwhile, the president announced plans to hold a news conference on Monday in the Oval Office, following the US military’s rescue of two American pilots whose aircraft had been downed in Iran.
