In a significant development early on Friday, Kuwait’s Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery, a critical facility operated by the Kuwait National Petroleum Company, was targeted in a drone attack. The assault resulted in fires breaking out across several operational units within the refinery, raising immediate concerns about the safety and security of the country’s vital oil infrastructure.

The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) swiftly responded to the incident, confirming that emergency and firefighting teams were promptly dispatched to the scene. Their rapid intervention successfully contained the fires, preventing them from spreading further and causing more extensive damage to the refinery complex.

Notably, KPC emphasized that no injuries have been reported among refinery personnel or emergency responders. The corporation also highlighted that all necessary safety protocols were rigorously followed to mitigate the impact of the attack. In addition, KPC is working closely with the Environment Public Authority to continuously monitor air quality around the facility. So far, no adverse environmental effects have been detected, alleviating some concerns about potential pollution from the fires.

This incident comes amid heightened regional tensions and underscores the vulnerability of critical energy infrastructure to emerging threats such as drone attacks. The Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery remains a cornerstone of Kuwait’s oil production capacity, making the swift containment of the fires crucial to maintaining the country’s energy stability and economic security.
