Senior Pakistani actor Noman Ijaz revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer in June 2024 and credited the daily recitation of Surah Rehman as a vital part of his healing process. During a recent podcast, he candidly discussed his diagnosis, treatment, and the emotional struggles he endured throughout his illness.
Doctors initially discovered a tumour near his ear, along with lymphoma in his stomach. Upon receiving this news, Noman Ijaz turned to prayer, seeking mercy from Allah, and began his medical treatment. He reflected that the hospital visits and chemotherapy sessions were less distressing to him than witnessing the pain his family experienced due to his condition.
He also shared that he frequently feared he might not survive to see the next day, which led him to recite various Quranic verses and prayers before sleeping. Notably, a close friend, Gohar Butt, suggested that he recite Surah Rehman daily, advice that Noman Ijaz embraced wholeheartedly.
The actor emphasized that this daily spiritual practice became a cornerstone of his recovery and provided significant comfort during his battle with cancer. The tumour near his ear was surgically removed, and subsequent scans revealed that the lymphoma in his stomach had disappeared.
Although chemotherapy was scheduled to begin in July, the unexpected positive scan results brought relief and hope. Noman Ijaz expressed deep gratitude to Allah for his recovery and the encouraging outcomes of his treatment.
