Pakistan actively participated in the ISPCAN 2026 World Congress held in Melbourne from August 24 to 26, focusing on global child protection frameworks and best practices. The event, themed “Transforming approaches to safety and healing,” gathered researchers, practitioners, advocates, policymakers, and youth to discuss innovative methods for child protection.

The congress agenda included critical topics such as out-of-home care, youth justice, community prevention, digital safety, cultural diversity, and public health strategies. Attendees exchanged research findings, shared effective practices, and proposed practical solutions to enhance child welfare worldwide.

The Pakistani delegation featured prominent figures including Sarah Ahmad, Chairperson of the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau; Abdul Khaliq Sheikh, Human Rights Secretary; and Dr. Arif, Human Rights Director. Their presence underscored Pakistan’s commitment to advancing child protection measures.

In a significant development, Ahmad highlighted the government’s dedication, led by the prime minister, to implementing robust policies that safeguard children’s rights. She emphasized that strengthening legislation, establishing a solid institutional framework, and executing practical initiatives remain top priorities for Pakistan.

Ahmad further noted that Pakistan is actively refining its child protection system by integrating lessons learned from international experiences and adopting proven global practices. The delegation’s involvement in the congress offered a valuable opportunity to gain insights from worldwide experts and identify strategies to enhance the effectiveness of national child protection mechanisms.

Throughout the congress, the Pakistani team engaged in discussions with international specialists, exchanging perspectives on successful child protection frameworks. They also reviewed various global models and practical approaches, aiming to apply relevant international knowledge to bolster Pakistan’s child protection efforts.
