Government Raises Petrol and Diesel Prices Amid New OGRA Notification

The federal government has announced an upward revision in the prices of petrol and High-Speed Diesel (HSD) following the latest notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Tuesday. This adjustment reflects ongoing fluctuations in the global oil market and domestic economic considerations.

Specifically, the price of petrol has been raised by Rs1.12 per litre, while HSD has seen an increase of Rs1.11 per litre. As a result, the new retail price for petrol is set at Rs343.10 per litre, and HSD will now cost Rs371.80 per litre. These changes come as part of the government’s routine review of fuel prices to align with international trends and local supply-demand dynamics.

Notably, the revised rates for these petroleum products will be applicable for a limited period, remaining in effect only on August 26 and 27. This short-term pricing adjustment indicates the government’s cautious approach to managing inflationary pressures while ensuring fuel availability across the country.

Meanwhile, consumers and businesses alike are expected to feel the impact of these price hikes, which could influence transportation costs and overall economic activity. The government continues to monitor the situation closely, balancing the need for revenue generation with the broader economic implications of fuel price changes.
