Government Raises Petrol and Diesel Prices Amid Recent Rate Adjustments

In a significant development late Thursday evening, the federal government announced an increase in the prices of petrol and diesel, with the new rates coming into effect immediately after the official notification was issued. This adjustment marks another shift in fuel pricing following recent fluctuations in the market.

The price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) was raised by Rs1.64 per litre, resulting in a new rate of Rs364.70 per litre. Meanwhile, petrol prices saw a smaller increase of 27 paisas per litre, bringing the updated price to Rs337.78 per litre. These revised rates have been formally notified by the government and are set to remain effective until the following day.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is responsible for issuing the official notification regarding these changes. This move comes shortly after a notable price adjustment announced on Wednesday evening, when the government implemented a substantial reduction in the price of diesel by Rs32.63 per litre, lowering it to Rs363.06 per litre, while simultaneously increasing petrol prices.

These frequent changes in fuel prices reflect ongoing efforts by the government to balance economic pressures and market dynamics. Consumers and businesses alike are closely monitoring these developments, as fuel costs directly impact transportation and overall inflation rates in the country.
